Homophones - the same sounding word with different spelling and meaning.
Once children learn that a sound can be spelled in different ways they can begin to learn about homophones. How do they learn that words that sound the same can have different spellings and meanings? Kids simply need to see these words repeatedly in context in order to remember which spelling belongs in which word.
